PeopleACT is an initiative taken by the Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights (MCCHR).The talked was attended by the faculty academics, students, and administrative staffs. Cyber bullying or also known as cyber harassment happen when someone bully or harass others through online social media. It can take place in any forms like making hostile jokes or comments, producing threats, uttering sexual remarks, and others. Due to constant bullying or harassment which been received, victims may have lower self – esteem, increased suicidal ideation, and a variety of emotional responses, including being scared, frustrated, angry, and depressed. Though there is currently no specific law which can tackle the issue in the country, legal actions can still be taken under various existing legislations in the country like the Penal Code [Act 574] and Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588].
