ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.75/4.00, as accepted by the Senate; or
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50/4.00 but below 2.75/4.00, may be accepted subject to rigorous internal evaluation; or
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 but below 2.50/4.00, may be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience AND rigorous internal evaluation.
- Candidates without qualifications in a related field or relevant work experience must complete prerequisite courses determined by the University and achieve the minimum CGPA based on (1) to (3) above; or
- Other qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with honors AND relevant professional work experience.
Note: 1 year of work experience is equivalent to 0.05 CGPA.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A) Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English based on the following criteria:

- TOEFL with a minimum score of 180 (computer-based) or 64 (internet-based); or
- IELTS with a minimum score of Band 5; or
- MUET with a minimum score of Band 3; or
- Graduated from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, AND required to take the University English Proficiency Test (UEPT) with a minimum score of Band 3; or
- Graduated in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), English Language Studies (ELS), or an equivalent field from a university recognized by the Senate; or
- Native English speaker.
B) Applicants in the research mode who intend to write their thesis in Arabic must meet the following criteria:

- TOEFL with a minimum score of 150 (computer-based) or 52 (internet-based); or
- IELTS with a minimum score of Band 4; or
- MUET with a minimum score of Band 2; or
- UEPT with a minimum score of Band 2.
Applicants who do not meet any of the criteria under (A) & (B) are allowed to register conditionally and must meet one of the criteria under A or B within 12 months (for Master’s students).

1. Syariah Judiciary and Legal Sector
- Syariah Court Judge (Hakim Mahkamah Syariah): A Master of Syariah qualifies individuals to become judges in Syariah courts, handling cases related to family law, inheritance, and other matters governed by Islamic law.
- Syariah Lawyer (Peguam Syarie): Representing clients in Syariah courts, advising on matters like marriage, divorce, and inheritance, and working with individuals or businesses in matters related to Islamic law.
- Syariah Prosecutor (Pendakwa Syarie): Serving as a prosecutor in Syariah courts, representing the state in cases related to violations of Islamic law.
- Legal Advisor in Syariah Law: Providing advice to individuals, businesses, or governmental bodies on Syariah compliance, family law, or other related legal matters.
2. Islamic Finance and Banking
- Shariah Compliance Officer: Working in Islamic financial institutions to ensure that banking products and services comply with Islamic law. This can include roles in Islamic banking, takaful (Islamic insurance), and sukuk (Islamic bonds).
- Shariah Advisory Board Member: Serving as an expert on the Shariah boards of Islamic banks or corporations, providing guidance on compliance with Syariah principles in finance, investment, and transactions.
- Islamic Finance Consultant: Advising businesses on structuring products or services to meet Syariah requirements, particularly in areas like asset management, corporate finance, and investment.
3. Religious and Community Leadership
- Imam or Religious Leader: Leading congregations and providing religious guidance in mosques or Islamic centers, often addressing legal and social issues in line with Syariah principles.
- Mufti or Fatwa Specialist: Issuing legal rulings (fatwas) based on Islamic law, either for governmental bodies, religious institutions, or the general public.
- Islamic Counselor: Offering counseling services in areas related to family, marriage, and societal issues in accordance with Syariah principles.
