Dr. Hasnizam Hashim is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Syariah & Law, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. He graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia (2000) in the field of Islamic Revealed Knowledge & Heritage (majoring in Usul al-Fiqh & minoring in Political Science) and obtained his Master of Syariah from the University of Malaya (2005). He also holds Advanced Diploma in Shariah Law & Legal Practice (DSLP), LL.M in the Administration of Islamic Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia and Ph.D from the Faculty of Laws, National University of Malaysia. He began his academic career at IIUM in year 2000 before joining USIM as a full time lecturer in 2008. Upon joining USIM, he is entrusted with various administrative positions and currently as the Head of Programme (Bachelor of Fiqh & Fatwa) at the Faculty of Syariah and Law USIM. He has taught various syariah law subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels i.e. Islamic Criminal law, Islamic Family Law, Administration of Islamic Law, Contemporary Issues in Fiqh, Islamic Jurisprudence, Islamic Public Policy and etc. His main research includes Islamic Criminal Law, Islamic Family Law, Islamic Jurisprudence and administration of Islamic law in Malaysia. Others include studies on the transformation of the Syariah Court in Malaysia and alternative sentence.
