DR. AHMAD SYUKRAN BAHARUDDIN - Lecturer
Dr. Ahmad Syukran Baharuddin is currently serving as a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Syariah and Law, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. Besides his previous basic pure-science academic background, his academic journey then furthered with Tahfiz Diploma from Darul Quran, JAKIM. He then obtained his first degree in Shariah (Fiqh and Usul Fiqh) with honours from Mu’tah University, El-Karak, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2012. He received several excellence academic awards from the university and the Malaysian Ambassador to Jordan for three consecutive years of 2010, 2011, and 2012. He then pursued his study and received his PhD degree in Fiqh Science and Technology from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2017 under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) scholarship. Upon his graduation, he was awarded a ‘Merit Award’ for his PhD thesis entitled: “The Integration of Forensic Science Fundamentals and Al-Qarinah towards Achieving Maqasid al-Shariah”. Throughout his research career, he was involved in several national research grants such as ERGS, FRGS and KTP. He has also presented his research and findings relevant to Islamic jurisprudence, the integration of science and religions that majorly focussed on forensic science fundamentals in Islam. He has participated in selective courses in the forensic science UTM masters academic program in 2016 and attended international and national congresses, seminars and conference, both under the themes of forensic sciences and shariah law. As for publications, he has published more than 50 publications including books and articles in journals, conference proceedings, and popular magazines in which allows him to be awarded several times as ‘Best Paper’ award in an international conference and in a journal hosted by Persatuan Saintis Muslim Malaysia (PERINTIS). He owns two Intellectual Properties (IP) in his research area of innovation which allows him to be awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals/awards in several international innovation competitions. As academic recognition, he has been appointed as a reviewer and member in local and international journals related to his research area. He is also popular with the new epistemology and concept of ‘the fiqh of forensic science’ (fiqh forensik) in Islamic jurisprudence.
