INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON USUL FIQH 2013 (i-SUFI 2013)

Conference Title:

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON USUL FIQH (i-SUFI 2013)

Theme:

TOWARDS THE EMPOWERMENT OF THE APPLICATION OF USUL FIQH

Objective:

In addressing the challenge of globalisation, the i-Sufi 2013 conference
provides a platform for the Muslim scholars to express a clear and
understandable istinbat in deriving the ahkam of various current issues.
This step is relevant in Malaysia whereby current religious, social,
political, economy and medical issues demand suitable, yet valid solutions
under the principles of the Quran and the Sunnah. The i-Sufi 2013 is
reinstated by the Faculty of Syariah and Law USIM as part of its
programs the first i-Sufi was held in 2004) for a 'glokal-based' (global and
local) discussion, which is of pertinent value to muslim scholars from many
different countries. Finding resolutions for current issues is feasible in
this conference, through the deeper study and the discussion of the usul fiqh
itself. This conference aims to publish paper proceedings and books that are useful
for reference of the experts, researchers and policymakers. It is the hope
of the organiser that these publications will enrich the existing materials
under the subject-matter of usul fiqh across the globe.

Background:

The conference provides a two-day session of sharing of knowledge of the
Muslim scholars with the participants in the most simple, valuable and
straightforward fashion. The views of the Muslim scholars of the past are
taken into account when resolving current daily life conflicts in the
aspects of medical, politics, economics and social. In addition, it promotes
the Islamic study courses offered in the FSU, and in USIM as an institution.
By the end of the conference, participants are enhanced in their
understanding in usul fiqh matters and are free to create network with the
scholars and other participants. The result should be a positive turnaround
for usul fiqh as a subject in many Islamic institutions, both local and
international.
