Muzaffar Syah Mallow,
On 5TH October 2016, the second year of Bachelor of Syariah & Law (SMSU) students, Faculty of Syariah & Law (FSU), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) had taken their initiative in organizing a talk on “Legal Profession Act 1976”. The talked was organized based on the recent federal government decision through the country Attorney – General, Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali proposal to amend the act which touches the Malaysian Bar electoral rules and regulations. According to the AG, the proposal was made in order to make the Malaysian Bar more “transparent, democratic and return it to its original purpose”. However, the Malaysian Bar regards the proposed amendment as a “serious threat to the independent of the bar itself”. As such, the talk offer a good opportunity and open a platform for the law students of the faculty to understand the issue further and make clarification over the proposed amendment. Several members of the Malaysian Bar have been invited to deliver the talk.
